On September 18, 1911, Pedro Viñas opened Farmacia Internacional on the Ramblas of Barcelona. This pioneering, modern, and scientific space became the seed of Laboratorios Viñas and marks the beginning of the company's history.
One of the first original formulas developed by Pedro Viñas at the Farmacia Internacional is the anti-inflammatory drug Radio Salil. A product that is still being sold today and is the longest-running product on the company's market.
Laboratorios Viñas presents its products at the Palace of Chemical Industries at the Montjuïc fairgrounds as part of the International Exhibition taking place in Barcelona.
On August 13, 1932, Laboratorios Viñas was incorporated as a private company with its registered office at 24 Quevedo Street, Barcelona.
On November 1, 1948, Pedro Viñas Dordal passed away in Barcelona due to septicemia and was buried alongside his brother, Francisco Viñas, in the mausoleum that he had built years earlier by the sculptor Mariano Benlliure (1862-1947), which is located in the Montjuïc Cemetery. His legacy continued with the entry of the second generation into the family business.
On February 3, 1951, the Barcelona Industry Delegation authorized the relocation of Laboratorios Viñas, S.A. to the building at Torrent d’en Vidalet 29, in the heart of the Gracia neighborhood in Barcelona.
With the aim and the need to develop own products, the Research Department of Laboratorios Viñas was created in 1971. In its early years, it focused on Chemical Research, but years later, it expanded to the areas of Pharmacology, Clinical Research, and Pharmaceutics.
Due to space requirements, the Administration and Commercial Services are moving to new offices at Calle Provença, 386.
With the incorporation of third-generation members, the legacy of Pedro Viñas continues, focusing on the research and development of proprietary formulas and original products.
This unit was created with the aim of supporting pharmacies by offering 'pharmaceutical advice' products such as Oralsone, a medication for the treatment of mouth ulcers, Radio Salil anti-inflammatory cream, and Saltratos, a product line for foot care. Its catalog also includes proprietary dermocosmetic brands such as Belcils and Liposomial.
Many of the first drugs developed by the founding pharmacist, Pedro Viñas, were already dermatological compounded formulas, but it wasn't until 1989 that the Dermatology Unit was created, with the aim of offering dermatologists solutions for the treatment of various skin conditions.
With the loss in its vademecum of the company's main revenue-generating product, Nevrotal, Laboratorios Viñas prioritizes human and social aspects instead of downsizing the staff.
After the necessary expansions and adjustments, the facilities of Laboratorios Viñas in Can Rosés (Rubí) begin to operate at full capacity.
