Cold weather, constant use of central heating and certain dermatological disorders can have a negative impact on eyelids, which are very vulnerable to external aggressors. Skin, which acts as our body’s protective layer against the external environment, varies in thickness depending on the area of the body and face. Eyelid skin, measuring 0.6-1 mm in thickness, is the thinnest of all, and is up to five times more delicate than skin on other areas of the face, such as the chin.
The Spanish National Aestheticians Federation (Federación Nacional de Asociaciones de Esteticistas de España, Fanae), explains that the blood vessels of the eyelid are less active and thus provide less oxygen.
